Renault-Nissan sign to partner Israel’s national electric car infrastructure.

The Renault-Nissan Alliance, the fourth largest automotive group in the world, has signed an MOU to participate in the world’s first complete framework for electric cars.
 
The network, which is due to launch in 2011, is designed to migrate the entire country’s car industry and supply chain to electric vehicles.
 
The Israeli government will provide tax incentives to electric car customers while Project Better Place, a California-based company, will supply an electrical recharge grid across the entirety of the country.

The project also comes with a new business plan where customers buy their own car but will subscribe to an energy package (including a battery) similar to the tariff model operated by mobile phone companies.
 
Israel is considered to have the perfect environment for an electric car scheme as 90 per cent of car users travel less than 70 kilometres per day.
