Earn while you learn
A new scheme has been launched which will pay engineering students to undertake focussed project work alongside industrial engineers.
A joint initiative between The Nuffield Foundation and the Engineering and Technology Board (ETB), the scheme will pay students £75 per week for a 5 week period during their summer holidays.
Well defined projects
Students will benefit as they will be directly contributing to a well defined project that will have a definite outcome at the end of their placement period.
The scheme is also designed to benefit smaller employers (with under 500 employees). By offering candidates that have skill level 3 and above at further education colleges (e.g. BTEC Certificates and Diplomas and Foundation Degrees) businesses will have the capabilities and energy of a well educated, ambitious student on tap.
The scheme is also supported by the Learning and Skills Council in the English North East and East Midlands.
