Roberts has launched the world's first solar-powered digital radio.

The new "solarDAB" portable radio has a solar panel atop that powers the rechargeable batteries, providing up to 27 hours of listening when not near sunlight.

It offers ten station presets, soft touch rubberised controls, a backlit LCD display, headphone socket and line in for other audio sources.

As well as solar and stored power in the batteries, it can run off the mains and there are function icons for solar level and battery and signal strength so you'll know when you need to juice it up.

The Roberts solarDAB comes in five colours (white, black, red, green and pink) and has a RRP of £79.99 and is available from electrical stores nationally.
