Engineering Jobs
Processor giant Intel is geared up to launch their new range of next generation ‘system on a chip’ products.
The initial batch is aimed at industrial robotics, security, storage and communication markets. Based on the Pentium M processor, the company plans to base further ‘system on a chip’ (SoC) hardware on its newly launched Atom processor, which was developed for low power mobile internet devices.
Each of the new units contains four separate chips: a CPU, an input/output controller, a memory controller and a memory controller.
Intel is said to have more than 15 SoC endeavours in the pipeline and – for the first time – is thought to be developing a consumer electronics focused chip.
