Go!Cam will be released on 16 May and will allow PSP owners to take pictures, make videos and edit them with a dedicated software.

With a retail price of £34.99, the add-on is capable of recording film for two and half hours. Users can take and store over 40,000 photos on a 4GB Memory Stick Duo.

Go!Cam offers a built-in microphone to ensure continuous audio and the ability to change the direction of the camera lens vertically by 180 degrees.

The camera will be bundled with the Go!Edit editing software, enabling users to use their PSPs as portable editing suites.

It allows PSP owners to enhance movies and photos with sounds and graphical effects, and also upload creations onto the internet directly from the console.

Summer hobby?

"Go!Cam is fantastic news for all those PSP owners looking for something new, fun and creative," said Stephane Hareau, PSP Marketing Manager at SCEE.

"With summer around the corner and the ability to turn your PSP into a mini-camcorder and capture all the best moments in your life, this is yet another reason to get a PSP and to take advantage of truly portable entertainment.

"It demonstrates yet again the potential, versatility and evolving nature of PSP."

Between its European debut on 1 September 2005 and the end of December 2006, over eight million PSP systems have been shipped across the SCEE territories, with over 24 million shipped worldwide since its Japanese launch in December 2004.
