BT and Microsoft announce agreement
The console, however, will not be able to receive or record live television.
The service, which will be open to all BT broadband subscribers, is an attempt by the company to seize on the popularity of the Xbox. BT currently has 70,000 installed subscribers with a total of 100,000 signed. Many pundits consider this a disappointing number. The company aims to have two to three million customers by 2010.
BT across the platforms
"Our aim is to provide BT Vision on multiple platforms, giving customers greater convenience, control and flexibility over what they watch, when they watch and how they watch TV,” commented Dan Marks, chief executive of BT Vision.
"It also means that we are able to potentially expand our BT Vision customer base by tapping into the popularity of Xbox 360.”
