Conservatives unveil plans for ‘apprenticeships revolution’.

The Conservative Party have launched ‘Building Skills, Transforming Lives: A training and apprenticeships revolution’, a green paper claimed by the party to be their most important statement on skills in the last ten years. Read the apprenticeship paper here.
 
Focusing on apprenticeships, it promises a significant increase in the number of new all-age opportunities available as well as incentives for small businesses.
 
As part of the proposal, 100,000 additional apprenticeships would be created with participating employers benefiting from £2,000 bonuses.
 
The conservatives plan to finance the move through £100m NEETs (Not currently engaged in Employment, Education or Training Fund) aimed at ‘disengaged’ young people and a £100m Community Learning fund aimed at adults looking to update or gain new skills.
 
Commenting on the paper, Shadow Skills Minister John Hayes said: “Conservatives are committed to elevating the role of learning in the workplace. By boosting funding to apprenticeships, paying employers directly, and establishing an apprenticeship bonus, we will unlock individual talent and spread opportunity.”
